Job Summary
The Laboratory Technologist I performs medical laboratory testing in a specialized unit of Laboratory or in the various units of a core lab environment in either an urban or rural setting. Work includes performing quality control activities, preparing specimens for testing, evaluating, interpreting and reporting on test results, recognizing unexpected errors or problems and performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment.

Job Demands
By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):
Occasionally lifts and/or unload objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
Regularly stands or sits for extended periods, requiring constant repetitive movement of upper extremities and walking to deliver reports/results.
Visual and auditory concentration are constant and eye/hand coordination and higher than normal levels of attentiveness are required.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Graduation from a recognized (accredited) program with a diploma in Medical Laboratory is required.
Registration as a general RT is required.
Current registration with the NL Council of Health Professionals is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
