Job Summary
The Utilization Coordinator is accountable for the development, implementation, management and ongoing evaluation of Provincial Cardiac Surgery Wait List and Cardiac Care Database (APPROACH). The incumbent ensures appropriate access to cardiac surgery through continuous provincial liaison between wait list patients/families, regional physicians/ health care facilities.

The Cardiac Database provides population based, standardized. Comprehensive data for patients undergoing diagnostic heart catheterization, coronary revascularization and cardiac surgery. The incumbent provides overall leadership to database staff to facilitate data collection, analysis and dissemination. Eastern Health has entered into an initiative with the Federal Government to guarantee patients awaiting Coronary Artery bypass surgery will have their procedure completed with 182 days. It is the incumbent responsibility to monitor the waitlist to ensure this guarantee is met for the patients of the province.

Job Qualifications

Education
A Bachelor Degree in Nursing or a health-related discipline is required.
Master's degree in the applicable area is preferred.

Experience
Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven years working in acute care is required.
Previous experience in a management role is preferred.
