Job Summary
The Trades Worker III - Power Engineer supervises and ensures work is completed correctly and competently at the Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear Long Term Care Facility, and four other Rural Avalon sites. This work includes assigning, overseeing, and co-ordinating work of other trades workers, delegating work and work orders to appropriate personnel, providing trade expertise and participating in the maintenance and repair of critical building systems, such as the heating plant, cooling units and other auxiliary equipment. The Trades Worker III provides a lead role in the buildings' mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades planning and implementation of energy management programs for all sites throughout Rural Avalon, and performing other related duties as required.

Constantly lifts, carries or moves objects up to 11 lbs., regularly between 11 - 44 lbs. and occasionally over 44 lbs.
Regularly requires physical effort using tools that require accurate control and steadiness; maintaining physical balance, standing, walking, climbing, using gross and fine motor skills, and working in awkward or cramped positions requiring strength and/or endurance.
Work is impacted by time pressures/deadlines, interruptions and lack of control over work pace as priorities change, services being interrupted, etc.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from High School or equivalent.
Minimum of 3rd Class Power Engineering Ticket
A minimum of five years of power engineering experience is required.
Demonstrated strong time management, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to coordinate a range of related work or project activities.
Demonstrated effective leadership and supervisory skills.
Satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
