Job Summary
Eastern Health is seeking an experienced, dynamic individual responsible for assisting with preparation for organizational compliance with applicable privacy legislation, including the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA), the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), and any other statutory instruments related to privacy matters within the province. Reporting to the Director of Privacy, Planning and Performance the incumbent will maintain primary responsibility for developing strategies, procedures, and policies to ensure the organization remains current and compliant with privacy protection obligations. The incumbent will be responsible for the coordination and evaluation of privacy impact assessments; will assist with routine privacy audits, investigations and coordination in the event of breaches; will assist in responding to regulatory inquiries and audits; will respond to, coordinate, and process access to information requests; and other access and privacy issues as assigned. The individual will participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of privacy practice oversight for third party data sharing agreements and business partnerships. Additionally, the incumbent will provide coordination and support in the planning, design, and evaluation of privacy related projects. The position will require the ability to collaborate with a large number of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization including regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Job Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Master's degree preferred
Access and Privacy Certificate or Access and Privacy Certification (e.g. CIPP, CIPM) would be an asset.

Experience
Experience and knowledge of health information systems, privacy and security issues, and privacy access to information legislation is preferred.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to function effectively in a high pressure, diverse, and changing environment.
High level oral and written communication skills.
Satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
