Job Summary
The Laboratory Technologist I will perform routine and stat medical laboratory procedures and is accountable for supporting Quality and Safety in the lab. The Technologist monitors supplies and orders them as needed, troubleshoots equipment and work processes, and adheres to Laboratory policies and procedures. The Laboratory Technologist I must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills with technologists and other health care professionals in the workplace.

Job Demands

Occasionally lifts and/or unload objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
Regularly stands or sits for extended periods, requiring constant repetitive movement of upper extremities and walking to deliver reports/results.
Visual and auditory concentration are constant and eye/hand coordination and higher than normal levels of attentiveness are required.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized (accredited) program with a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or a degree in Medical Laboratory Science is required.
Current and continuing certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) as a general MLT or applicable subject MLT is required.
Current and continuing registration with the NL Council of Health Professionals is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.

*The successful applicant must be willing to complete at the first available opportunity refresher courses at the request of the employer.
