Job Summary
Applications are invited for a Clinical Physiotherapist II with the Access & Optimization Division, Clinical Efficiency. This position delivers physiotherapy service to the adult orthopedic population through the Orthopedic Central Intake (OCI) program. This includes OCI, the Total Joint Assessment Clinic (TJAC), the Assessment and Injection Clinic (AIC), as well as participation in the weekend coverage model at St. Clare's Hospital.
The Clinical Physiotherapist II works in collaboration with Orthopedic Surgeons and interdisciplinary team members (PT, OT, SW, Nurse Practitioners and clerical support) under the direction of the Clinical Lead PT III. Within OCI, the Clinical PT II manages and facilitates communication to patients and primary care providers related to referral status and triage / assessment outcomes. The Clinical PT II will assess and determine appropriateness for consultation with a surgeon or earlier conservative management, and readiness / appropriateness for surgical intervention. As a member of the Interdisciplinary team in TJAC, the incumbent provides assessment, education and interventional support for patients awaiting orthopedic surgery. Participation in the weekend coverage model includes providing weekend coverage, in rotation, as well as days of rest coverage for inpatient and outpatient Orthopedic caseloads for the Physiotherapist that has worked a weekend.
The successful applicant has exceptional musculoskeletal assessment skills, excellent communication and collaborative skills, as well as a desire to function as part of an interdisciplinary team, in an environment focused on continuous quality improvement. The successful applicant is a systems thinker, with demonstrated critical thinking and process improvement skills. A focus on implementing and analyzing patient centered care and outcomes along the continuum of care is essential.
The incumbent is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of best practice in adult orthopedic care for the Division. The Clinical PT II is expected to contribute to programs and initiatives of the Division that have a regional, provincial and national focus.
The position reports to the Division Manager, Access & Optimization, and maintains accountability for professional integrity issues to the Professional Practice Consultant for the discipline.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized School of Physiotherapy program is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP) is required.
A minimum of three years' experience within the last five working as a Clinical Physiotherapist with an adult outpatient musculoskeletal population is required.
Successful completion of a post entry education course Orthopedic Level II - Upper and Lower Quadrant (or equivalent as determined by Eastern Health) is required.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in both a one-on-one and/or group environment.
Effectively translated and communicated knowledge in the specialized area of physiotherapy practice to others.
Possessed proven leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, coaching, mentorship and training to physiotherapists, physiotherapy support workers and students.
Ability to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
