Job Summary
The Trades Worker IE (Carpenter) is a journeyperson level position that participates in the maintenance, repair and renovation of wooden structures (cabinets, desks, displays, workstations, etc.) using woodworking machinery and hand tools. Work may also include estimating cost and ordering materials and supplies, performing preventative maintenance on various equipment and machines and liaising and communicating with contractors and performing other related duties as required.

Constantly lifts, carries or moves objects up to 11 lbs, regularly lifts, carries or moves objects between 11 - 44 lbs and occasionally over 44 lbs.
Regularly requires accurate control and steadiness for using tools;
Regularly requires physical balance, standing, walking, climbing, and working in awkward or cramped positions requiring need for strength and/or endurance.
Regularly requires the use of gross and fine motor skills using tools that require accurate control and steadiness.
Work is impacted by time pressures/deadlines, interruptions and lack of control over work
pace as priorities change, services being interrupted, etc.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from High School or equivalent.
Successful completion of a Journeyperson's Certificate in Carpentry.
A minimum of three years of carpentry experience is required.
Knowledge of Occupational Hazards, WHMIS Regulations, and safety precautions.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
