Job Summary
DOMESTIC WORKER:
Working as part of the housekeeping team on clinical and patient/resident units, to ensure the facilities are maintained in a safe, clean and aseptic condition. Duties include cleaning and disinfecting patient/resident and public areas, general office cleaning, and performing all other related duties of a Domestic Worker in a Housekeeping department.
FOOD SERVICE WORKER:
Responsible for preparing, assembling, and serving meals to patients/residents/customers. This may include distributing and collecting meal trays from floors, preparing vegetables, snacks, or other nourishments, ensuring kitchenettes and food stations are clean, sanitized, and stocked, performing cashier duties if applicable and other related duties as required.
LAUNDRY WORKER:
Responsible for operating a variety of commercial laundry equipment, collecting, sorting, washing, folding, pressing and distributing laundry and linens, delivering clean linens to appropriate hospital areas, maintaining cleanliness in the Laundry and other related duties as required.
COOK I:
Responsible for the preparation and service of breakfast, dinner and supper meals for residents and staff and the preparation of food items for special catering.***
Job Demands
By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):
Regularly lifts/moves objects/supplies between 10-25 lbs, and occasionally between 22 - 44 lbs.
Regularly uses body movement to bend, crouch, kneel and reach, as well as frequent standing/walking and firm grasping.
Pushes and pulls with medium forces with firm grasping automatic and manual cleaning equipment.
Regularly completes repetitive tasks requiring attentiveness and alertness when handling various chemicals used for cleaning.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively.
Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
*Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation would be an asset (Food Service Worker only).
** Knowledge in the treatment of materials and experience in the operation of laundry equipment would be an asset. (Laundry Worker only).
***Successful completion of an approved/recognized commercial cooking program is required and experience in cooking on a large scale commercial or an institutional operation would be an asset (Cook I only).
