Therapeutic Recreation Volunteer - Waterford Hospital

Do you play cards or bingo? Do you enjoy arts and crafts? Maybe you play a musical instrument? If so, Therapeutic Recreation at the Waterford Hospital wants you to volunteer!

The Waterford Hospital provides supports and services to both inpatients and outpatients who live and work with mental illness, addictions and other mental health concerns. The hospital is located at 306 Waterford Bridge Road in St. John's and we're waiting to move to our new Adult Mental Health Acute Facility in 2025!

Therapeutic Recreation staff help patients and clients develop and use leisure activities to improve their health and overall well-being. In addition to card and bingo playing and arts and crafts, volunteers interact with patients and clients to assist Therapeutic Recreation staff with activities such as music, singing, trivia games, movie time, one-to-one visiting and assisting with community outings.

The minimum age for volunteering with Mental Health and Addictions programs is 18 years old.

This is primarily a weekday and limited evening volunteer opportunity. Weekend volunteer opportunities are not currently available.
