Hours
Your hours of work will follow the flexible work schedule in accordance with Article 19.01(a) of the NAPE-HP Collective Agreement, based on 150 hours within a designated 4 week period (by mutual agreement). This position normally works 75 hours bi-weekly; 8 hour days.

Job Summary
The Clinical Dietitian II is part of an inter-disciplinary team responsible for the monitoring and licensing of Personal Care Homes within Rural Avalon. This includes the monitoring of activities and reports related to nutrition and food service for assigned Personal Care Homes to ensure compliance to the Personal Care Home Program Operational Standards 2007 and the Personal Care Home Legislation 2001. There is possibility of afterhours/weekend monitoring that may be required as part of the monitoring process.The Clinical Dietitian II collaborates with the inter-professional health care team in the provision of nutrition care; provides counselling/education to residents and staff of the Personal Care Homes; participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, annual review meetings and investigations of complaints and completion of inspections which may require visits after hours and on weekends; completes monthly statistical reports as required and supports some community clients. The Clinical Dietitian II will engage in practice, program and quality improvement initiatives. This position will also provide nutrition care to clients of the Community Supports Program, as needed. The incumbent is required to support Eastern Health's Dietetic Internship Program through contribution of clinical practice expertise and/or preceptorship of dietetic interns.
This position reports to the Manager of the Personal Care Home Program and maintains accountability to the Regional Professional Practice Consultant for Dietitians for integrity and professional practice issues.

Occasionally lifts objects up to 25 lbs.
Regularly requires alertness to the health and safety of others (i.e. tube fed patients, clients with swallowing issues, etc. Advice provided to clients impacts the health and safety of a client in regard to reactions to food allergies or blood glucose levels).
Regularly there are time pressures and deadlines and often there is lack of control over work pace.
Regularly requires a high level of attentiveness for exact results and precision for renal calculations, tube feeding and calculating nutrition prescriptions.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent from an accredited university program and successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program is required.
Current Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dietitians is required.
Previous experience as a Clinical Dietitian is considered an asset.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team would be considered an asset.
Conditions of employment include the use of a private vehicle.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
