As part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, the Digital Health division provides quality information to health professionals, the public, researchers, and health system decision makers. Through collaboration with the health system, we support the development of data and technical standards, maintain key health databases, carry out analytics and evaluation, and support health research. We support healthcare within Newfoundland and Labrador, including patients and communities through the delivery of information technology (IT) and digital health services applied in the healthcare system to provide quality care. Our mandate includes the development and implementation of a confidential and secure provincial electronic health record as well as other provincial clinical information programs, including the change management required to support adoption by end user clinicians.
About the Role
We are currently looking for a temporary, full time EMR Clerk II to perform clerical and administrative work in support of the Provincial Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Program, a partnership between the Department of Health and Community Services, the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association, and NL Health Services, Digital Health. In this position you will:
· Answer any telephone and email inquiries and provides general information.
· Basic data entry functions in the EMR.
· Support scheduling and other administrative functions in the EMR.
· Type a variety of correspondence for the program such as schedules, meeting minutes, etc.
· Assist medical clinics with transformation from paper documentation to the Electronic Medical Record System (i.e., provide support including scanning, organizing, and filing documents).
· Prepare electronic documents for distribution.
· Assist with record level maintenance in the EMR.
· Register patients from the patient connect portal into the EMR.
· Assist with the setup of the EMR – maintain provider and fax dictionaries.
· Other clerical functions assigned by the program office.
About You
Your education and experience include:
· Diploma in Business or Office Administration or a related field
· A minimum of one to two years experience in a clerical/administrative role
· Good knowledge of typical business application software (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, etc.)
· Proficiency with the Adobe suite of products
You have the following skills and abilities:
· Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
· Ability to balance multiple tasks
· Ability to deal with sensitive information and use good judgment and discretion
· Good time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated equivalencies may be considered.
