Job Summary
The Health Promotion Division is seeking a highly motivated individual and independent thinker, with interest in using a comprehensive population health promotion approach to preventing disease and injury and improving overall health status. The key responsibilities include: apply a population health approach, including determinants of health and health equity to the analysis of health issues; and plan, implement and evaluate health promotion action using principles of community development, work closely with community partners, i.e. municipalities and community groups to support their goals of healthy community. Develop plans to achieve measurable health promotion goals and objectives based on situational assessment findings. Communicate health promotion information effectively with diverse audiences using appropriate approaches and technologies. Collaborate with partners across sectors to enhance the impact and sustainability of health promotion action. Utilize a strong understanding of the development of, and advocacy, for, policies to improve health and reduce inequities. Offer leadership to build health promotion capacity and performance including team and individual level learning.

Occasionally lifts and moves resource material such as audiovisual equipment and workshop materials between 10 - 25 lbs.
Regularly sits to a computer, stands/walks or drives to and from sites to participate in workshops and training sessions in the region where there is repetitive alertness required.
Regularly operates a computer, performs fine finger or precision work where visual concentration is regarding to read text, perform data entry and compile statistical reports.
Regularly auditory concentration is required for routine verbal communication.
Regularly there is time pressures and deadlines to fulfill work activities, complete reports and to respond to funding requests.
Occasionally there is lack of control over pace of work due to requirement to participate in community meetings and committee work.
Occasionally work results in fatigue, requiring periods of rest.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion/Health Studies or a bachelor's degree in a related discipline is required.
Master's degree in Health Promotion or Public Health would be an asset.
Minimum of two years' experience in community-based health promotion including the application of population health and health promotion theory and strategies; retrieval and analysis of health status information; and identifying appropriate health promotion actions, is required.
Experience facilitating community mobilization and building community capacity around shared health priorities would be and asset.
Demonstrated leadership in team and organizational learning in order to advance health promotion goals.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills; knowledge of adult learning principles.
The use of a private vehicle is a condition of employment and travel throughout the region is an expectation of the role.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
