Job Description
Health Care Lions Club (St. John's)

The St. John's Health Care Lions Club is recruiting new members to continue its work and service in the community. We invite you to come to a meeting and meet locally as well as provincially and internationally.

We currently have 14 members and over the past couple of years we have undertaken the following service projects
(1) Provided meals to Ronald MacDonald House every three months for the benefit of those families who reside there while their children are hospitalized.

(2) Provide meals, snacks, play bingo, entertain those who are staying at the Agnes Cowan Hostel every two weeks.

(3) Visit with patients who are hospitalized.

(4) Give patients a ride to mall or other areas when requested.

We have undertaken a project to provide televisions for the Agnes Cowan Hostel for all 94 rooms so that patients can relax in their own room and help speed up their recovery and boost their spirits.

We currently meet on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm in Lecture Theatre D at the Health Sciences Center. We are considering changing our meeting time so that we could meet in the morning before employees start working or at 4:30 just after finishing work. This will depend on which time best meets the majority of members.

We would like to expand our services and form a Leo Club which would be for those 12 -18 years of age. We would also like to help with a breakfast program at a school near us. We are open to all new ideas and will consider any program you feel will help our communities.

We have received awards from our Local District as well as Lions International for our work in providing pillows and sheets for cancer patients over the past 10 years. Membership is open to males and females,
