Job Description

Palliative Care Volunteer
L.A. Miller Centre Site

Regional Palliative Care services are part of the Rehabilitation and Continuing Care Program with Eastern Health. Palliative care is far more than end-of-life care. When a patient has an illness or condition that cannot be taken away and could shorten their life, palliative care services can improve that patient's quality of life. Essentially, the palliative care team assists patients who are dealing with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families and caregivers, to live well each day by ensuring the best possible quality of life.

The Miller Centre is seeking volunteers, 18 years of age or older, to be part of this team.

Eastern Health expects all volunteers to be mature, caring and compassionate individuals. Volunteers should have effective and courteous verbal and non-verbal communications skills; be self-motivated with a willingness to be part of a team and be comfortable and confident interacting with individuals in a busy healthcare environment.

In addition to the standard onboarding processes, applicants for this volunteer position will be interviewed by the volunteer liaison with Palliative Care and detailed orientation will take place on the nursing unit.

This is a daily (Monday through Sunday), morning, afternoon and evening volunteer position. Your time and commitment are valuable to us.
