Job Summary
The Francophone Health System Navigator provides support and advocacy for Francophone patients and their families. The Navigator facilitates and coordinates access to French healthcare services, addresses client's linguistic and cultural needs, and networks with French Language service providers and organizational partners. The Francophone Health System Navigator would also assist with oral and written interpretation if needed to support Francophone patients and/or their families and guardians. The Navigator supports Eastern Health goals by developing linguistically and culturally inclusive care to the Francophone and French-speaking community. The Navigator serves as a linkage between clients and the healthcare system, helping to identify and connect clients with linguistically and culturally specific care and ensuring that the patient understands how to navigate through the continuum of care.

Job Demands

Occasionally moves/lifts objects between 10 - 30 lbs., pushing and files, charts and equipment.
Constantly sits to perform work on a computer to do research, write policies/procedures/manuals, prepare presentations, and read and prepare documents.
Regularly consults/interacts with other departments, units, and hospitals to coordinate timely patient/client/resident flow.
Regularly stands or walks to perform audits, give presentations, respond to patient/client/resident complaints and collaborate with the health care team to resolve issues.
Regularly performs fine finger/precision work on the computer or with machines that require accurate control and steadiness.
Visual concentration is required to view and report on documents, assess workplace situations, and/or to monitor the workplace regarding health, safety and risk management issues.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program is required.
Current practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
BLS Certification.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience within the last (7) as a Registered Nurse in adult acute care is required.
Fluency in both English and French (verbal and written communication skills) is required.
Knowledge of Francophone community culture.
Knowledge of available local and provincial francophone services.
Knowledge of quality improvement concepts and program evaluation.
Demonstrated proficiency in various computer applications and software.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills in both English and French.
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently and prioritize efficiently.
Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders and foster partnerships with outside agencies.
Demonstrated strong teamwork skills and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
