Job Summary
The Registered Nurse II in Bilingual Services is responsible for coordinating and administering medical services to patients, physicians, health care professionals, administrative and government officials of St. Pierre & Miquelon, the French islands south of Newfoundland. Responsibilities include facilitating and working with medical services within hospitals and private medical offices in the St. John's and surrounding areas; establishing and maintaining "on-call" interpreters; ensuing safe and confidential transfer of medications to patients in St. Pierre & Miquelon when their prescriptions need to be renewed, and not available; translating all medical information sent to Eastern Health from St. Pierre & Miquelon for patient consultation, investigation, procedures, examination, surgery and interventions; developing policies/standards related to foreign medical services; supervising of general office management, secretarial support and interpreter assignment; and other related duties as required.

Occasionally moves/lifts objects between 10 - 30 lbs., pushing and files, charts and equipment.
Constantly sits to perform work on a computer to do research, write policies/procedures/manuals, prepare presentations, and read and prepare documents.
Regularly consults/interacts with other departments, units, and hospitals to coordinate timely patient/client/resident flow.
Regularly stands or walks to perform audits, give presentations, respond to patient/client/resident complaints and collaborate with the health care team to resolve issues.
Regularly performs fine finger/precision work on the computer or with machines that require accurate control and steadiness.
Visual concentration is required to view and report on documents, assess workplace situations, and/or to monitor the workplace regarding health, safety and risk management issues.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program with a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required.
Current practicing licensure with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARNNL).
Minimum five years of acute care nursing experience within the last seven is required.
Current BLS Certification.
Demonstrated fluency in French and English (verbal and written) is required.
Ability to translate and prepare medical documents with consideration for style, language, usage and flow.
Demonstrated progressive leadership skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, outlook calendar and internet.
Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated effective problem solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
