Health Sciences Centre
The Health Sciences Centre is the largest health care facility in the province, housing multiple clinics frequented by our clients. We are currently seeking volunteer Wayfinders to greet and assist clients in finding their appointments upon arrival at the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
" Sign in at the location designated by the Coordinator, Volunteer Resources
" Assist patients/visitors/family with wayfinding at Health Sciences Centre and Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre.
In this role, the volunteer may sit or stand to provide wayfinding to patients and families.
" We are seeking volunteers to work shifts Monday-Friday during regular operating hours (8:30-5:00). The time commitment is one shift (2-3 hours) per week (AM or PM).

" Effective and courteous verbal and non-verbal communication skills and the ability to speak and understand English
" Willingness and ability to follow directions
" Comfortable and respectful interaction with patient, families and visitors
" Interest in gaining/applying experience in healthcare or customer service
Orientation:
An orientation to Eastern Health will be provided by the Coordinator of Volunteer Resources. An orientation to the assigned area will be provided by the unit or area staff or designate as required. All volunteers are required to attend these orientation sessions prior to beginning any volunteer assignment.
Training: Additional training for this assignment will be provided as required by designated staff.
Attire:
Comfortable and professional clothing, volunteer uniform (if provided) and Eastern Health issued identification badge.
Evaluation:
Your open and honest feedback about your volunteer experience is encouraged. Consult the coordinator for Volunteer Resources about your experience, expectations and concerns.
Safety:
Safety is a priority for Eastern Health. Volunteers must ensure that safety for patients, residents, clients, employees and themselves is paramount in the workplace. Any and all safety concerns must be reported to the unit staff or the coordinator for Volunteer Resources immediately.
