Job Summary
This is an advanced clinical leadership position with a specialization in Neuropsychology. The Psychologist provides neuropsychological assessment services to inpatients and clients of the Mental Health and Addictions program, primarily focusing on the Geriatric Psychiatry Division. The Psychologist develops, implements, and evaluates neuropsychological assessment protocols for people with a variety of difficulties including but not limited to dementia, traumatic brain injury, seizures, strokes, early psychosis, and other cognitive difficulties. Responsibilities include conducting advanced, independent diagnostic interviews; selecting and administrating comprehensive psychometric tests including but not limited to, intellectual assessment, memory assessment and various cognitive assessments; interpreting psychological data for diagnostic purposes; and monitoring/prioritizing patient wait lists according to clinical needs.
This position includes the supervision of a Psychometrist and includes taking responsibility for the Psychometrist's cognitive assessments and report writing. The Psychologist communicates assessment findings and diagnosis to other psychologists, physicians, teams, families and patients/clients. Supervision of provisionally registered doctoral level psychologists and Psychology Residents is expected as well as assisting in the development and coordination of clinical placements for students and residents. Work also involves maintaining professional standards and professional development, acting as a resource for other health care professionals, advising on and participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures including risk management, quality improvement and workload issues. This position reports to the division manager for Geriatric Psychiatry and maintains accountability to the Regional Professional Practice Consultant for Psychology for professional integrity and practice issues.

Uses fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).
Visual concentration is required to interpret patient observations and integrate into patient evaluation.
Auditory concentration is constantly required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly.
A higher than normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients.

Job Qualifications
Graduation with an approved/recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology is required.
Registration or provisional registration with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board is required.
Graduate course work and supervised experience in psychological assessment with a focus on neuropsychological assessment including cognitive and diagnostic assessment with adults is required.
Graduate course work and supervised experience in evidence based therapy with a specific focus on mental health issues is required.
Previous experience supervising Doctoral level residents is preferred.
Exhibited strong communication, program development and evaluation skills.
Possessed strong leadership and supervisory skills that are focused on engaging others and developing coalitions.
Demonstrated ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training and mentorship to Clinical Psychologists and other supervisees.
Possessed strong analytical, critical reasoning, collaboration, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of psychology practice to others.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research, deliver lectures/clinical education sessions and provide clinical direction and consultation within an interprofessional environment.
Ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and client needs.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to participle in the clinical training activities of the psychology discipline.
Demonstrated strong awareness of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
