Job Summary
The Regional Director for Health Information Services & Informatics Department (HIS&I) is a member of the senior management team and is accountable for providing leadership, vision and strategic direction to the HIS&I department which has a regional and/or provincial scope and reach in the areas of: continued development of electronic health records, health information management, privacy, confidentiality and security of health information, supporting the access to and utilization of health information, management of health records in multiple media, support in analysis of clinical information, education in the content and utilization of clinical information, registration and admission, support for research.
The Health Information Services & Informatics Department has the responsibility of stewardship of health records - preparation, assembly, storage, security, access management and security/confidentiality. It has an additional role in linking clinical information and operational information. The incumbent also provides leadership to the abstracting/coding health information processes that support research, planning, utilization management, resource allocation and quality reviews
Job Qualifications
Education
Baccalaureate Degree in a health-related discipline and a Master Degree in management / business or health-related discipline.
Advanced knowledge of information technology.
Experience
Minimum of five to ten years of progressive management experience in healthcare. This would include previous experience in managing health information and/or records management, planning and evaluation, managing projects of a complex nature, leading quality initiatives, and strategic change management.

The position requires an appreciation of the regional dynamics and requirements of Eastern Health, the other regional health organizations, government agencies, and provincial/national/international organizations in the health information space.

CHIMA certification is considered an asset
Experience in managing health information and / or health records is considered an asset.
Travel throughout the region may be required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
